NUCLEAR INSTITUTE FOR AGRICULTURE AND BIOLOGY (NIAB) Affiliated with Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) open admission 2016 for M.Phil, and Ph.D in Biological Sciences.

Introduction:

NIAB, an establishment of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, is serving the nation as a center of excellence in nuclear oriented advance research in Biological Sciences and has enormous contributions in the area of Agriculture and Biology for the last 45 years. Continuing tradition of human resource development, NIAB offers platform to students having passion for innovative research, self-confidence and wishing to develop their careers in the field of Biological Sciences.

ADMISSIONS-2016 OPEN FOR M.Phil., M.Phil. leading to Ph.D. and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. Subject GRE of NIBGE or GAT-Subject test of NTS is mandatory for PhD admission at NIAB as per HEC guidelines. Ph.D. admissions will remain open round the academic year against fixed number of seats after qualifying GAT/subject GRE. HEC scholarship holders will be given preference.
Students awaiting result can also apply with ‘Hope Certificate’ from their department/university but have to provide complete result at the time of interview.
Application and Admission Procedure Submit duly filled admission form (can be downloaded from www.niab.org.pk) accompanied with attested copies of the certificates of qualification, domicile, character certificate, detailed marks certificate, three passport size photographs and NOC from the employer in case of in-service candidates.
Incomplete application form may cause termination of candidature.
There will be written test and interview for M.Phil. and M.Phil. leading to Ph.D. admission.
For Ph.D. admission, candidates have to appear for an interview subject to clearance of Subject GRE/GAT.
The candidates are directed to bring their CNIC, original certificates, thesis/research report and a copy of publication(s) at the time of test/interview.
Selected candidates will be required to submit university migration and character certificate (in original).
A non-refundable bank draft/pay order of Rs.2000/- in favor of Head LAO NIAB should accompany the application form.
Performance Based Fellowships
Performance based fellowships will be given in form of partial or complete tuition fee waiver.
Eligibility Criteria
All Pakistani nationals with required qualification.
For M.Phil. and M.Phil. leading to Ph.D. Admission,
minimum qualification of 4-year BS/M.Sc. (16 years of education) and at least 2.5 CGPA (out of 4) or equivalent. For Ph.D. Admission, minimum qualification of MS/M.Sc.(Hons)/M.Phil. degree (18-years of education) and at least 3.0 CGPA (out of 4) or equivalent. First class academic career will be preferred, however one second division is allowed except in the final degree.
Candidates with degree in the fields of Agriculture (All majors/specializations), Animal Sciences (All majors/ specializations, DVM, Animal Husbandry etc.), Botany, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Bio-informatics, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Crop Physiology, Food Technology (Nutrition, Food Sciences, etc.), Microbiology, Pharmacy & Zoology from HEC recognized university.
