KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued orders to extend working hours of banks which were open for limited working hours due to corona virus.

The SBP on Thursday sent a circular to the presidents of all the banks instructing them that the branches of all the banks would be open to the public from 9 am to 5:30 pm from Monday to Thursday.Lunch time is fixed from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm while on Friday also the banks will be open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. However, there will be a break for Friday prayers from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.According to the State Bank of Pakistan, these new banking working hours will come into effect from July 13.

The BISE controller of examinations, Rashid Gul, announced the results of examinations of grade 10th and 9th at a ceremony held today. Senior provincial minister for tourism and sports Mohammad Atif Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. The students who got top positions attended the function along with their teachers and parents.

Mr. Gul said that Asif Iqbal of Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College, Swabi, clinched top position by getting 1,065 marks, Mohammad Nabeel Khan of Quaid-i-Azam Public School Zaida, Swabi, stood second with 1,064 marks and Mah Noor Inam of Al-Badar Model School Shewa Adda, Swabi, got the third position. He said that all the top three positions were grabbed by students of the science group.

In humanities group, two sisters, Muneeba Umair and Iqra Uzair who appeared in the SSC examinations as private students, secured the first position with 978 marks and a second position with 950 marks, respectively, while Humera Hassan of Government Girls High School Kotli Kalan, Nowshera, obtained the third position by getting 948 marks.

A total of 45,523 candidates of the science group appeared in the examinations of which 41,313 were declared successful and a total of 20,236 candidates of arts group appeared in the exams of which 13,897 were declared successful.

The master plan and detailed drawings of the new Board Complex were approved by Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Governor NWFP/Controlling Authority in September 2002, and construction of the new complex commenced on 1 November 2002. The new Board Complex was completed in a record time of just 16 months and its inauguration was performed by Governor NWFP on 4 March 2004.
