Punjab Medical Faculty (PMF), established in 1916, is an autonomous body which works through 11 members’ Governing Body. It strives for the professional competence of allied health professionals to ensure that their quality education is in line with the contemporary needs and latest scientific advancements.
The primary functions of PMF are designing curriculum for diploma level education and conduction of examinations for such courses. It also associates institutions in government and private sectors that deal with the education of allied health sciences and regulates their performance. The foremost function of PMF is to conduct various examinations of Allied Health Sciences for examinations. The Governing Body of PMF has entrusted responsibility for the examination of one of its sub-committees, the ‘Examination Committee’. The admissions are done once a year and only one shift in. The admissions will be made only after the advertisement by Director General Health Services / Punjab Medical Faculty.
Allied Health Sciences in Punjab Medical Faculty is the specialty of the authority, registration and recognition of the training institutes and diploma level training. In this regard the Faculty:
- Sets standards and scheduling standards of recognition of training institutions in the public sector and affiliation of institutions in the private sector.
- Delineates admission criteria including minimum required education, age limit and other requirements.
- Performs continuous monitoring over the training institutions. Every recognized and affiliated institution is required to furnish any such information as PMF may require time to time.
