SC rejects Defence Secretary’s appeal
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan dismissed the intra-court appeal of Defence Secretary Asif Yasin Malik filed against his indictment for contempt of court.
The Supreme Court had halted contempt of court proceedings against the defence secretary until a decision was made on the intra-court appeal. After the dismissal of the intra-court appeal, the Supreme Court will start contempt of court proceedings against the defence secretary on November 20.
A three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had indicted the defence secretary for not complying with its orders to hold local bodies (LB) elections in cantonment boards.
