Sara Haider is a vocalist and songwriter from Karachi. She has performed in Nida Butt’s ‘Grease – The Musical’ in February 2014 , and as a member of the Coke Studio season 7 and season 8 house band.
She also sang a duet “Ae Dil” with Ali Zafar in cokestudio season 8 (September 2015).

At 18, she was one of the six artists to be selected in Ufone Uth Records 2011 for her first-ever single ‘Tera Saath’, and weeks later she recorded a duet with Faisal Kapadia of Strings, as part of the Strings upcoming album. She has since then performed and recorded with an array of acclaimed classical eastern and contemporary musicians, including Strings, Shahi Hassan, Gumby, Faisal Rafi, Shujja Haider, Jaffer Zaidi , Zohaib Kazi , the National Association of Performing Arts, Shallum Xavier, Arshad Mehmood and Zia Moyuddin.

In 2012, Sara began experimenting with eastern classical music, receiving classical training under Ms. Saffia Beyg. She featured in a NAPA Repertory performance later that year, performing selected works of Mirza Ghalib with composer Ahsan Bari- her attempt at ‘contemporizing the ghazals of Ghalib’ received excellent reviews, and she was invited to perform at various international performing arts festivals in Delhi and Kolkata, India in 2012. Her unorthodox, soulful renditions of classical poetry were highly celebrated by Indian audiences- an incredibly motivating first of many international performances to come!

Aside from her collaborative projects, Sara was the lead vocalist and songwriter for the band ‘Teeen’, with Imam Hamdani and Ahsan Ghulam Hyder, which had been performing on stage for live audiences since 2011. They gained considerable popularity for their powerful female vocals , smooth guitar tones, and improvisational renditions of contemporary pakistani music; Their sets included songs by Zeb and Haniya, Nazia and Zohaib, Mehdi Hassan, Runa Laila and their original music.

The band’s first song , ‘Barishon Mein’ became a viral hit, receiving overwhelming attention for it’s ‘smooth, infectious sound’, as well as a nomination for a VIMA international music award for best pop song of the year 2012.

Sara won the award for “Best Emerging Talent” at Lux Style Awards ’15.

She is also featured in Levis’ music video for their campaign “Live with Levis” which is going to be out soon.
